BKM Turns 50!
While data shows that the average lifespan of a company is 15 years, BKM celebrates its 50th year in business on April 1, 2018. We are very proud of this accomplishment. We feel that BKM grows and prospers because of the relationships that we have built inside and outside of the company and our willingness to learn and improve to better serve our clients.
Our founders started BKM, and it continues to this day because of a very strong shared culture. It is a culture of caring. Caring for the clients we serve and the quality of the work that we do for them. This culture of caring began back in 1968 when Jack Burdette, Tom Murphy, and Lou Koehler started BKM. They were unique individuals who wanted to chart a different course for a company. They believed in creating a partnership with their clients through understanding their needs and treating them with kindness and empathy while providing top quality professional services that we still practice to this day.
BKM has evolved from a handful of employees to over 50 strong. In addition, our partnership with TiePoint-bkm to provide mission critical facility design has grown our team to over 75 people. Through our continued growth, we still share the original mission of serving our clients in the very best way. What started as a small local company serving the Baltimore area has transformed into a business that provides engineering solutions for clients in the mid-Atlantic, holds licenses in over 25 states, and maintains national contracts with several large corporations and government clients.
We look toward an exciting future for BKM that will continue building strong relationships with our clients while providing the very best engineering services.
