Olin Hall Horst Lab HVAC Upgrades

BKM provided MEP design services for Johns Hopkins University, Olin Hall to provide a new rooftop air handling unit to serve the Horst Lab.

The new 100% outside air unit was installed to support the additional cooling and ventilation needs of the lab which includes several fume hoods and toxics gases including methane and carbon dioxide. The existing rooftop unit was left in place to act as a redundant cooling system is the new AHU was to go offline for maintenance. A new electric duct heater was provided to maintain the lab’s target environmental conditions. New gas piping for rooftop unit was provided and routed from the existing service. Power for the new duct mounted heater and rooftop equipment was extended from existing panels.
