Dear friends and colleagues,

We are saddened by the news of the passing of Louis “Lou” A. Koehler, Jr. on Monday, February 13, 2012. Mr. Koehler was a founding member of Burdette, Koehler, Murphy & Associates, Inc. which was founded on April 1, 1968. He was a graduate of the Maryland Institute and Johns Hopkins University. Over his 42 year career as a mechanical engineer, he was responsible for the design of over 500 projects.

During his 92 years, Lou lived a very full and active life. He was a man of many talents, several of which highlighted his engineering prowess. Lou was an accomplished pilot who started flying in 1939 and continued to fly through his late eighties. He was a principal designer, builder, and “engineer” for the steam locomotive train that regularly ran in Leakin Park in Baltimore City. He also obtained a license to drive tractor trailers which he did in his retirement.

More importantly, Lou was a very warm and genuine man who was married to the love of his life Wilhelmina “Willie” Louise Weber. Together they raised their three children Bruce, Terry, and Mark and were both very proud of each of their children’s accomplishments although Lou often accredited their success to his wife. His friendly smile and kind and cheerful humor will be profoundly missed by all. Please join us in extending our deepest sympathies to his family.
