Jessica Chery-Hise Returns to Speed Mentoring Night at Loyola University MD
Jessica Chery-Hise, LC, LEED AP BD+C, Associate IALD returned for the second consecutive year as a mentor for Loyola University Maryland‘s Speed Mentoring Night on April 16th. The event was sponsored by Baltimore’s IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE). Dr. Raenita Fenner (rafenner@loyola.edu), Associate Professor of Engineering at Loyola University MD directed the event and asked Jessica to participate again this year. There were a variety of mentors who volunteered to give students career advice and professional development insights across different fields within the engineering profession. Students asked Jessica about the education requirements needed for engineering consulting and in order to pursue becoming a professional engineer (PE). Jessica also attended Loyola’s Career Fair in the fall on behalf of BKM and enjoys interacting with Loyola’s campus of well-rounded students.
With 10 years of A/E/C industry experience, Jessica is an excellent role model of a successful, hardworking woman in engineering. This past year, she has made many strides in the lighting specialty field within electrical engineering as a Lighting Certified (LC) professional, having earned her Associate IALD (International Association of Lighting Designers), IEEE Senior Member status, and MIES status (Member, Illuminating Engineering Society.) She will be presenting at the 66th Annual Association of School Business Officials of MD and DC (ASBO) spring conference in May on lighting design considerations in K-12 settings.
