Dear friends and colleagues,

It is with deep sympathy that we announce the passing of our long-time employee, Joycelynn “Joyce” Marie Zelenka. On Sunday, January 15, 2017, Joyce passed away from complications with liver disease.

This week, we have lost both a valued coworker and dear friend of the BKM community. As the firm’s secretary and administrative assistant, Joyce was the first line of contact at BKM. She was the familiar voice when you called and the friendly smile that greeted you when you walked through our doors. Joyce recently celebrated her 30th anniversary at BKM in November, having worked through all three generations of BKM’s management. Many of the staff have known Joyce for many years, even 30 years for some. She will be deeply missed, leaving behind so many joyous memories and laughs.  While reminiscing, coworkers described Joyce as “the matriarch, the gatekeeper, the mother of BKM, a great listener and friend, and someone who took genuine personal awareness in our lives.” She was the type of person who remembered what plans you mentioned to her the week before and would ask you how they went come Monday morning. Joyce took extra care in picking cards for birthdays and special occasions matching our personalities. She handled BKM’s internal parties, catering, as well as numerous other responsibilities. She was an extraordinary person, a hard worker, and someone who will long be remembered for her remarkable dedication to BKM.
