Korey Rubeling, BKM’s Business Development Manager, celebrated the transition into his role as the 2017-2018 SMPS MD Chapter President at last night’s 35th Anniversary Celebration. BKM has had a long history supporting SMPS’ Maryland Chapter. Catherine DeWitt, BKM’s Director of Marketing + BD, served as the 2015-2016 President. Additionally, BKM’s entire Marketing Department held positions on the Board of Directors this past year under the leadership of current President, Ree Miskimon.

“I am excited to lead the SMPS MD Chapter this upcoming year. We have a great Board of Directors for the 2017-2018 year, and I’m looking forward to our planning session in July to map out our year. We’ve won Chapter of the Year the past two years (out of 58 Chapters) and I’m happy to continue our Chapter’s legacy. There are some pretty big shoes to fill from my predecessors.

No one studies Professional Services Marketing and Business Development in school. Higher Education institutions offer courses on product placement, branding, and other general marketing subjects, but nothing specific to our industry. The only way to obtain that knowledge, in addition to having a great mentor, is through SMPS. The organization has provided outstanding educational content as well as programming. It is the only organization dedicated to advocacy for marketing and business development professionals in the AEC industry.

SMPS’s vision is ‘Business transformed through marketing leadership.’ As such, marketers and business developers need to continue to advocate for our professions. Next year, our board will strive to continually engage our membership and provide them with networking opportunities, dynamic educational events, and programming, while incorporating SMPS’ vision and advocating for our professions.”
