SMPS MD Wins Grand Prize Striving for Excellence Award under Catherine DeWitt’s Leadership
Out of 57 chapters, SMPS MD was selected for the second year in a row as the best of the best based on all it has accomplished throughout the last year. The Striving for Excellence Awards program recognizes SMPS chapters for excellence in their management and service to members through quality programs, exemplary leadership and chapter management, increased membership, effective communications, and financial health.
BKM’s Director of Marketing + Business Development, Catherine DeWitt, accepted the award on behalf of the chapter during the Awards Gala at the SMPS Build Business Conference on August 13th alongside her fellow members. Some of SMPS MD’s accomplishments included:
- Offered 70 CEU hours (39% increase) and 35.5 AIA learning units (17% increase)
- Garnered $6,275 in profits from programs with an average attendance of 85 attendees
- Established Key Awards program to support the Scholarship Fund
- Created Senior Advisory Council Roundtables as track-based learning programs
- Collaborated with SAME Baltimore Post to offer marketing materials and proposal review during their 2016 Forum
- Continued an 88% chapter membership retention rate
- Focused on networking events by branding and alternating locations
- Created a Class Yearbook to highlight chapter mentor/mentee pairings
- Increased membership 10.2%
- Attained Twitter goal of over 1,000 followers
- Experienced a 23% increase in chapter website traffic
- Increased sponsorship dollars 39%
- Raised $4,190 overall for community and industry organizations
- Held “Call for Charities” for membership to choose next community service project
