Children’s Emergency Department

BKM provided MEP design services for this 11,000-square-foot pediatric emergency department for Children’s Hospital.

This project included the renovation of an existing primary care area on the ground floor adjacent to the existing emergency department. Modifications were incorporated into the design to provide a new entrance/drop-off area and new canopy. The area was designed to provide state-of-the-art medical care to the Southeast area of Washington, DC. The mechanical design included a new dedicated central station air handling unit and upgrades to the electrical distribution system allowing this area to be served by both the normal and emergency power systems.
