As part of an on-call contract, BKM was the prime consultant selected to provide design of the MEP upgrades to Stedwick Elementary School. The scope included the replacement the original mechanical equipment installed in 1975 and 1991. Modifications included the replacement of four air handling units, two chillers, and unit ventilators and fan coil units.
Electrical systems were modified to accommodate the mechanical system upgrades. Where existing fan coil unit branch circuits were deemed to be within their useful life, they were reused to serve the replacement units. Older branch circuit conductors beyond their useful life were replaced reusing existing conduits. Conductors associated with the chiller feeders were replaced using existing underground conduits. New branch circuit breakers, feeders, variable frequency drives and duct smoke detectors were provided for the new rooftop air handling systems.
